The initial week of school has proven to be quite challenging. My plate is full with Calculus 2, Chem 152, and even a history class. Strangely, even though the material is a continuation from the previous semester, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as everything seems unfamiliar.
I've taken the step of reaching out to my mentor regarding my research project direction. I mentioned that during the summer, my biology class conducted an allelopathy lab, but the results were inconclusive. This sparked my curiosity about the actual anticipated outcomes. In response, my mentor proposed that I delve into researching a native plant that could effectively counter the weed growth in the PC garden.
Taking action, we've extracted some nutsedge bulbs to set the stage for our experiment. Despite my search, I've yet to pinpoint an Arizona-specific plant for this purpose. I did stumble upon possibilities like sunflowers, dried mango leaves, and eucalyptus. The prospect of this project unfolding is genuinely exhilarating!
Here is a photo of the nutsedge that we dug up.
